The Schooner Short is a luxurious take on the 5" inseam nylon swim trunk. The fabric is a metallic, kinda crinkly but not too crinkly, lightweight water resistant nylon. The built in liner is a black micro mesh that you can cut out if you so please. These are the fastest drying shorts I've ever owned, bar none. They're so lightweight, breathable, and flowy yet still have enough structure and durability to get whatever job done, whether that's cruising a hundred beers or manning a massive sea vessel. You've got two single welted pockets on the front, a construction usually reserved for jacket pockets or the ass pockets on trousers. These pocket bags are a perfectly reasonable depth, not ridiculously long like some other brands. The ass pocket has a nice flap and button to keep things secure. The waist band is a full 1.5" thick, the bottom hem is 1", and the word mark logo is embroidered onto the left leg.

A Schooner is a super expensive and huge sailboat. In Australia, it’s a tall glass of beer. So basically, these shorts are luxurious and great for partying. The design inspo started with trying to make a nicer version of the classic 5" baggy but quickly evolved into a really unique piece. I always felt weird wearing baggies with a really nice shirt, but I loved the ease and simplicity of a nylon 5" short. I did some research and looked at a few different luxury recreations and picked and pulled some inspiration from each. I attacked the fit first, mostly by slightly narrowing the leg hole opening and tightening the thigh measurements. The thin hem and waistband always bugged me, so I added some width there to add structure and value. I threw in the front single welted pockets because I'd never seen them on the front of a pair of shorts before. The factory found this material and I absolutely loved it. I intended to do neutral color shorts, but this color was absolutely nuts so I quickly pivoted.

The waist sizing on these is nearly spot on the same as the baggies, but reference the size chart if you're unsure. The fit is similar but improved, which I think gives them a lot more versatility. To show how these shorts will look on different people, I brought in a bunch of people with different builds, skin tones and styles and asked them to pick their favorite size (listed in the bottom left corner of each model picture). I’m hoping this will help you envision how the shorts will look on you and which size you should go with to get your desired fit. This is a concept I plan on continuing for every product forever, because I’d rather give you this instead of “The model is 6’10, 120 pounds and wears a Large”.

Price and Manufacturing Breakdown:

The shorts were manufactured in China. This same factory makes clothes for Palace and Only NY. They're absolute pros and have been a pleasure to work with. We went through 3 rounds of samples to perfect all of the details, which cost $316 all said and done.

The bulk order was for 102 units at $20 each ($2013 total) plus $726 shipping and $713 tariffs. This is my first time running into tariffs and they're absolutely crippling.

The photoshoot was $75 per style.

All said and done I’m in for $3843, or $38 a unit. My pricing is set up for wholesale, so the mark up has to be at a place where both the retailer and I can make money. I'm hoping to figure out how to lower shipping and import fees, and when I'm able to I'll pass the savings along to you, boy scouts promise.

As always, if you have any questions about the designing or manufacturing processes, my line is always open.

Not doing hand delivery because it is a pain in the ass but if you know you’re going to see me soon and don’t want to pay for shipping just text me.
